Project Overview
Strengthening Inclusive Education System and Services in Nepal (Inclusive Education Project) aims to improve access to quality education for children with disabilities (including complex disabilities) and children with learning support needs demonstrating learning at the basic level. The project will strengthen the system and services at the local level between January 2022 and December 2024. This project will follow the inclusive education framework that has been tested around the world. The project focused on three different levels: System and services, School and community, Individual and family.
General Description
- Project duration: Jan 2022-Dec 2024.
- Project areas: Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Kalika Municipality.
- Project target group: 3 to 14 and up to 18 for complex disabilities (Both in and out of school children).
- Consortium partners: Handicap International, Sense International.
- Project implementing partners: Autism Care Chitwan Society, National Federation of Deaf Nepal.
- Total budget: 2,051,194 GBP.
- Project reach: 147 community schools, 3,500 children with functional limitation (Including those with complex disability)
Expected Outcomes
Education authorities and stakeholders including OPDs in two municipalities of Chitwan district provide quality services to support education of girls and boys with disabilities (including children with complex disabilities) and other children with learning support needs with systems, procedures and plans in place.
Accessible and quality inclusive education approaches that are already tested are implemented at household, school and community level in two municipalities of Chitwan district.
Evidence on inclusive education is generated, shared and implemented with partners, OPDs, government agencies and other stakeholders implementing major inclusive education program at national and local level.
