The condition where there is no knowledge about an object’s figure, shape, form and colour in an individual due to the following problem with vision:
- Blindness: A person who cannot distinguish fingers of hand by both eyes from a ten feet distance or who cannot read the letters on the fourth row of the Snellen chart (3/60), even upon utilization of medicines, operation, lenses or lens.
- Low vision: A person who cannot distinguish fingers of hand by both eyes from a twenty feet distance or who cannot read the letters on the fourth row of the Snellen chart (6/18), even upon utilization of medicines, operation, lenses or lens.
- Total absence of sight: A person who cannot differentiate brightness or darkness.
दृष्टि सम्बन्धी देहायको समस्याबाट कुनै व्यक्तिमा कुनै पनि वस्तुको आकृति, आकार, रूप र रङ्गको ज्ञान नहुने,
क) दृष्टि विहीनता : औषधि, शल्यचिकित्सा, चस्मा वा लेन्सको प्रयोगबाट पनि दुबै आँखाले हातको औँला दश फिटको दूरीबाट छुट्याउन नसक्ने वा स्नेलेन चार्टको पहिलो लाइनको अक्षर (३ र ६०) मा पढ्न नसक्ने व्यक्ति ।
ख) न्यून दृष्टियुक्त: औषधि, शल्यचिकित्सा, चस्मा वा लेन्सको प्रयोगबाट पनि बीस फिटको दूरीबाट हातको औंला छुट्याउन नसक्ने वा स्नेलेन चार्टको चौथो लाइनको अक्षर (६ र १८) मा पढ्न नसक्ने व्यक्ति ।
ग) पूर्ण दृष्टिविहीन :पूर्ण रुपमा उज्यालो वा अँध्यारो छुट्याउन नसक्ने व्यक्ति |
कार्यगत सीमितताका अवस्थाहरु : हेरेर पढ्न, सिक्न तथा हिडडुल गर्न हुने कठिनाइ |
